The largest carnivore in Borneo, the clouded leopard, is in a great danger of becoming one of the extinct species. Efforts are being made in assisting the leopard of Borneo to breed in captivity. The animal had been classified as a distinct species from its relatives in Sumatra. As such it has to be managed separately in captivity to maintain the diversity.

Habitats - The clouded leopards are found in lowlands of tropical forest in South East Asia, in Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Thailand, the Indochina and the the southern part of China. It had been extinct in Taiwan and are endangered on other countries.

The Sabah Wildlife Department wanted to launch a program assisting leopard of borneo to breed in captivity. The intended location will be at Lok Kawi Wildlife Park in Kota Kinabalu.
