Malaysia is unique. It is a parliamentary democracy, but at the same time, it had its own King. The King of Malaysia is known as Yang DiPertuan Agong and he is elected from a group of Sultans of the Malay states.The official resident of the king is at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur. It was originally a resident of a wealthy businessman built in 1928. During the Japanese occupation of then Malaya, it was taken over by the Japanese to house the military leaders.
When the war ended the State Government of Selangor renovated the mansion and covered it the Palace for the Sultan of Selangor. As Malaya became an independent country in 1957, the Federal Government tool over the palace and make it the National Palace for the King of Malaysia.
The national palace is getting more popular with the visiting tourists. Ever day you can see tour buses parking in vicinity of the palace and tourist will coming down to take pictures of the guards.
Tourists are only allowed to approach near the palace from the allocated spot.
Note
The palace is not open to public. Only the front gate allow tourists to come near the palace for photography.
