Penang is again in festival mood. This time it is celebrating The Unesco World Heritage day. It was included in the heritage list in 2008 and became one of the two sites in Malaysia. The other is Malacca.

The theme of the celebration this year celebration is "rejoice and regenerate". The events is organised by Disted College and sponsored by many organisations. The theme was selected to reflect the spirit of sharing and caring. Inline with this the visitors are actually doing a good deeds as the total proceeds will be donated to the National Cancer Society Penang Branch.

Penang has the potential to be an exciting and vibrant city, with exciting range of activities, combining the old and the traditions with the modern attractions.

Some of the highlights of the celebrations are:


a. Asean Heritage food trail offering more that 40 stalls serving various foods from different countries in Asean. Crowds were indulging in the local foods of Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines. They were also treated with the delights from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and othe Asean countries.

b. A variety of cultural shows of dances, music and performances.

c. Craft activities like caricature paintaing, henna tattoo and kolam art.

The unesco world heritage title can be used to promote tourism and penang and indirectly the Malaysia Tourism industry.
