Malaysia Heritage

Visitors to Kuala Lumpur can experience and learn about kuala lumpur by walking through the Malaysia Heritage Walk.

The walking path was created for the visitors to visit the historical sites within the central city starting with the Central Market at 10.30 am on the weekend. These are the areas visited:

- The Central Market, now know as Pasar Seni or Art Market, was the original wet market built in 1888. The market was saved by a group of NGO who insisted on preserving it, when the government wanted to bring it down to make way for development.

- The next stop is Pasar Road, the center of the town and the clock tower still stand. It was built in 1930, before the invasion of the Japanese.

- The congruent of two rivers used to be the port, with boats coming in to do the exchange of goods. A mosque, small but beautiful, was built at the congruent for the surrounding Malay community.

- An old Toist Temple can be found near Jalan HS Lee. The Temple was built by Kaptan Yap Ah Loy, who was responsible for the development of Kuala Lumpur.
