Taman Negara Pahang

Many tourist come to Malaysia looking for the natural beauty of the country. One of such as place is the national park or locally known as Taman Negara.



Introduction
Covering 4 344 sq km and spread over three states - Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu - the National Park (Taman Negara) is the oldest tropical rainforest in the world. The 130 million-year-old forest is home to a diverse species of flora and fauna and is a major attraction to nature-lovers as well as fishing and hiking enthusiasts.

As it lies on the top layer vegetation in a forest, you will have an extraordinary view of the land species found there. There are over 10,000 species of plants, 350 species of birds and local mammals including mouse deer, barking deer, tapirs, wild boars, elephants, leopards, tigers, and monkeys.

A visit to Taman Negara, however, is not complete until you have done the canopy walk. The world's longest such walk, it winds over 400 meters in the forest canopy allowing you to view the rich and diverse flora and fauna at the very summit of the forest, 25 meters above the ground.

Visitors will find exploring the numerous jungle trails and limestone caves as well as climbing Mount Tahan (Gunung Tahan), the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia, an exhilarating promotions.

How To Get There
Jerantut, a town in Pahang, is the main entry point to the park.

By Road : The journey takes approximately 3 - 4 hours from Kuala Lumpur or Kuantan via private or public transport (e.g. taxi, bus, rented cars). From Jerantut, go to Kuala Tembling where you take the boat, 3 - 3 1/2 hour ride upstream to the Park.

By Rail : The train service to Kuala Tembling, run by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) is available.
By Air : A 45 minute flight is available from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan.
